Waterfront Park was once the site of the busiest port on the Southeast coast; in the 19th Century, a steady stream of ships entered the Port of Darien for cargoes of lumber, mostly yellow pine, bound for Europe. Nowadays you'll see the beautiful shrimp boats lined up on the Darien River
