There aren’t many finer things in life than a picnic lunch ride down the Lehigh Gorge on a sunny day in the middle of the fall. The sky is clear, the river is flowing, the leaves are changing color, and you’ve got a full cooler headed south along the beautiful Lehigh River. Life just doesn’t get any better than this. Highlights: incredible views from inside the Lehigh gorge; cascading waterfalls; precipitous mountains; historic railroad tunnels, bridges, canals, and locks; cool riverside soaking spots; great wildlife viewing. Tread: smooth, cinder-covered rail-trail.
