If you happen to be booking in February, be sure to check out the Riverside Dickens Festival. Held in historic downtown Riverside, this is like a one-weekend renaissance festival, but with a Victorian theme. Besides artisan booths and food/drink, they offer "tea with the queen," live actors who portray famous Victorian authors in a question/answer type forum, usually a Victorian trial of some sort in the historic courthouse, and other interesting Victorian-themed events.
