Chalet de Cenise - if you want to experience the real hospitality of the Alps you can do no better than visiting the Chalet de Cenise. One meal is served so there is no menu, but what a meal! Charcuterie to start, followed by roast meat and the best beignets in the area (a type of local speciality, potato fritters like you've never had before!) Followed by cheese from the owner's family and dessert. All for around 14€ per person. Wine is extra. Please note: You must make a reservation - tel: 04 50 03 51 39. If you need help making a reservation (French needed) please ask. To get there, continue up the road passing to the left of the Mairie in Petit Bornand. You will climb up the mountain for around 10km, it will take around 20-25mins. The road is narrow but passable easily, continue past the first part of untarmaced road. when you reach the second area which lacks tarmac you can either park and continue walking up the hill to the chalet (5mins) or you can drive to the chalet itself. There is the opportunity to walk to the top of the Rochers de Leschaux which are the cliffs behind the gite.
