A drive up the mountain to experience KTD Monastery is well worth the effort! KTD is the land center for the Karmapa, a well-known Tibetan teacher. You can have a tour of the property, or just walk into the meditation hall and sit in the deep silence for a few minutes. Here is also access to the famed Overlook Mountain Hike, which takes about an hour to reach the top. There you can climb a fire tower for an incredible 360 degree view of the Valley.

At the top of Overlook Mountain is the KTD Monastery and Bookstore. The shrine is amazing and it's across from the Overlook Mountain trail to the top of the mountain for magnificent views.
