If you are a chef or love cooking you would probably enjoy The Culinary Institute. Where many famous chefs were trained. Several fabulous restaurants. Reservations are a must and some must be made months in advance. Must drive across the River.

Located 2.5 miles from the home! A hidden gem for food lovers hiding in plain sight in the middle of Dutchess County, New York. What is this? There are four restaurants that everyone can visit at The Culinary Institute of America’s, Hyde Park, NY campus.

The Culinary Institute of America is just a half an hour north of Newburgh, across the river in Hyde park. Not only does it regularly produce some of the world's top chefs, it also boasts several on campus restaurants. There is an American restaurant, featuring Hudson Valley fresh dishes and fine wines, a fine dining French or Italian restaurant, a bakery, and even a brewery. Reservations are recommended and it can get a little spendy, but definitely a splurge worthwhile.

Not only is the campus beautiful but there are a choice of fine dining and casual options. Most fine dining require advance reservations
