If you do not mind a 30 minute drive, go to the Belle Isle State park. It has a beautiful stretch of beach right near the parking lot. Lots of hiking trails. On your way back stop for a bite and drink at The Corner in Lively.

Great place to picnic, enjoy the beach and water, playground for kids, open spaces for volleyball net or horseshoes. Walking trails, biking, horse riding trails.

Belle Isle has seven miles of shoreline on the Northern Neck's Rappahannock River. The park lets visitors explore a wide variety of tidal wetlands interspersed with farmland and upland forests. You can rent bikes, canoes, and kayaks.
