The Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum, near Keswick, is a hands-on museum that has lots to do for all members of your holiday group. Children can dress up as miners and you can try your hand at mining with a hard hat and light to get you in the mind of a miner. There’s also a narrow-gauge railway to enjoy, which has stunning views of Blencathra.
