West Tanfield, 7 miles to the north-east, has a wonderful beer garden which tumbles down to the riverside. The friendly service, excellent menu, beers and wines makes this a place to be visited. Just across the road is the Bruce Arms, run by the same management, providing a more sophisticated ambience and posh-nosh!

Gorgeous beer garden by the River Ure. Well kept beer and pub food. Combine with a walk to the Marmion Tower.
