The building is beautiful. When entering through the warm wood and glass turning doorway, you will see the large Oregon history murals on the walls. A walk or tour around the Capitol building is worth your time; you may even take in a free art exhibit. The 'Gold Man,' as we call him, is a statue of a pioneer on top of the dome that is covered in gold leaf. The last time the gold leafing was replaced, it was paid for by coins saved and donated by the children of Oregon. Next to the Capitol is a beautiful park and across from the Capitol is the Mall with Splash Pads which operate during the warmer months.
