A local secret spot to go and swim next to Cornell's arboretum. Enjoy the beautiful waterfall of the damn or lay out and sunbathe on the flat rocks.

Flat rock is a series of rocks that form a creek next to the Plantations. Take Forest Home Drive and park on the side of the road where there are cars parked (and you don't know why!) Follow one of the little primitive (sometimes dangerous little paths down to the creek) Take a towel and a good book or a beverage for peace, quiet and an experience! Been going here since I was a kid. Wear old sneakers and yucky old cut offs to slip and slide down the creek...but be careful...I accept no responsibility for safety...it has slippery moss but traverse at your own risk! :-)

The entrance to this area is on Forest Home Drive, and there are two dirt parking areas directly across from the arboretum if you leave by taking Arbor Road. This area is shallow with lots of flat rocks, and reportedly popular on hot days to lie on the rocks. Not really swimming as much as wading, as the water is only a couple of inches deep. Upstream is a very short dam with a small fall, and the signs say “Danger No Swimming.” Always stay far away from dams, even small ones, as they can suck you under. Both parking areas have short little steep trails going down, but the options from the parking area that has a directory sign are better, as they lead to a bank and are less steep. Official
