If you go North past San Simeon look for the signs for elephant seals. They are on the west side of the freeway. Park your car and watch the incredible, enormous flabby mammals.

Hearst San Simeon State Park is a pet-friendly destination on the Californian coast. Pet owners looking to go on a wander of the coastline can also check out the Junge Ranch Trail, which allows leashed pups on the 2.2 miles back trail covered in wild flowers. Other than these spots, Fido must be kept on a leash and are not allowed on the trails or beaches.

Visit Hearst Castle with its exotic animals and rich Californian history. Then to Hearst Ranch winery for a great wine and lunch selection, then to the beach for great wildlife and sightseeing.
