I have wonderful memories of Corin Forest and it's about 45 minutes by car from Nishi. (You normally won't need chains -check their website for updates.) Personally, I prefer to go there in summer. The mountain slide is heaps of fun. Corin Forest is a beautiful place for a picnic. Visit Corin Dam and nearby Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex, and Gibraltar Falls.

It's only 60 minutes away by car. You don't need snow chains. Terrific family outing that doesn't have to chew up an entire day or bore the kids with travel. Perfect introduction to skiing without the huge overheads of the bigger resorts further afield.

Is nestled in the Brindabella Ranges and has a good man made short ski and toboggan slope. It has of course much natural snow fall too. So if you want snow play but don't have time to head to the Kosciusko National Park and the ski fields, this is not a bad cheap/small alternative. Don't go though thinking you will have long, winding ski runs. Very short, fast.

30 minutes drive from my guest house. Corin Forest is a snowplay area where people can build snowmen, go tobogganing, take beginner skiing lessons, go down an enormous outdoor slide, have a picnic, and so on. You won’t need snow chains to travel there, as the road is sealed the entire way and maintained by the ACT Government, which also regularly clears the road of snow. Occasionally, the road will be closed while snow-clearing is taking place, and this is shown in real time on the Road Closures page of the Corin Forest website.

Easy driving distance, accessible most of the year round with no snow chains. Book online to avoid disappointment. Winter offers a variety of snow activities (they make their own if nature hasn't provided). Summer offers a fun bobsled ride. There's an onsite cafe, or you can take a picnic. BBQs available onsite too.
