Located a 7 min ride from the house, this beautiful lake is NY state multi use area with with swimming, fishing, kayaking, tubing, non-motorized boating, and hiking. It is free and so is the parking and is mostly only known about by locals so it doesn't get too crowed. During the week you may be the only one there.

Great lake 8 mins away with kayak and paddle boat rentals, also trails for hiking. $8 to park the car or use your empire state park pass.

There is a bike rail trail that goes throughout putnam county, but airbnb doesn't have it so I selected this one because it is not too far. There are several points of access. You have to search bike train in putnam county for access points. I have 2 bikes for use at the house and more can be rented. Use website: http://www.putnamcountyny.com/parks-recreation/bike-path/
