Places to Visit

The pretty market town of Midhurst is just a short drive away (around 5 miles). It's one of the few remaining towns which is still home to independent stores, including a traditional butcher, baker and greengrocer. There are lots of independent cafes too, and West Street at the top of the high street has several interiors and antique shops which are worth a visit. There's a Farmer's Market on the first Saturday of the month held in the Market Square from 9am until 2pm where you can pick up fresh produce, flowers and artisan goods.

The pretty town of Petworth is just 12 miles away. It is reputed to be the only place outside London to boast more than 30 art and antique dealers within a one-mile radius. It is the location of the 17th century stately home Petworth House (National Trust) and Petworth Park which also has some lovely walks. There are some lovely shops, cafes and restaurants in and around Petworth, and you can easily spend half a day here.

Woolbeding Gardens and glasshouse is just a short drive away. While the gardens themselves are beautiful, the kinetic glasshouse opened in 2022, and is an amazing piece of engineering, well worth a visit in our opinion. Seasonal opening hours apply.

The Cowdray Estate, with its instantly recognisable 'estate yellow' paintwork is the home of British polo. Hosting over 400 matches a year, including the Veuve Clicquot Cup, it's well worth a visit, if not just to wander around the grounds and old ruins. Cowdray also has a lovely farmshop and cafe which offers a great brunch and delicious cakes.
