Each person gets 1 hour on the wheel! This experience is 2 hours for 2 people. If it's just you book for one person. If there are two, please book two slots. The first 5 minutes of class I will give you a brief tour of the studio. You will get access to a local Portland artists’ studio and a chance to see behind the scenes of the artists’ process as well as works in progress. What is unique about this space is all of the residents are practicing artists and business owners. It is a great space to get a peek into the Portland art scene. I will start the instruction by explaining the main principles of wheel throwing technique using visual aids. We will then move into the practical instruction. I will instruct you on centering the clay on the wheel, using the coning technique to prep the clay, and finally pulling the clay into its final form. You will have enough time to make between 1-2 pieces depending on what you choose to create. Some great first project ideas include: mug, bowl, etc. You might get muddy! Each students get 1 hour of instruction time. Come with a strong vision in mind or we can create something unique together! The goal of this class is for you to leave with a solid knowledge of beginner wheel throwing technique

Come and spend a day at a farm and make art! We are a woman owned organic farm located near the Sandy River. We have converted a century old dairy barn into a ceramic studio. Let’s spend the day playing with clay and learning together. Here we have options based around your skill level and interests. I can lead you on the potters wheel or in hand building techniques. For an additional cost of $25 per person I will fire your projects in my kiln and you can choose a glaze color for your finished pieces. When you get here we will immediately go into the goat, mini horse, mini donkey, mini cow and pig pasture and love on them. We can also feed the Alpacas and Chickens. Because I am an animal sanctuary I take in all animals. Most are super loving, but some require special instruction to interact with. Every parrot has a story. You’ll learn all about our rainbow-colored rescues in Kona’s only parrot sanctuary. We’ll start with our mission: to give every displaced parrot a nutritious diet, large space to fly, and a safe place to interact with other parrots (and people). Next, we'll take a walk around the sanctuary, where you can get to know the range of personalities of cockatoos, lovebirds, macaws, and more species. Throughout the tour, you will have many photo opportunities, especially with our well-trained parrots. Other things to note: Wear casual clothes, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, and bring a camera. Parrots in Paradise Sanctuary is also home to two rescue dogs, two Holstein cows and two sulcata tortoise. Aloha and Welcome as we gather around the information table at Sharkey's 100-year old farmhouse in the historic plantation village of Papaikou. Sample our freshly brewed 100% Hawaiian coffee or cacao tea, grown right here on the farm. From there we begin an easy walk through our orchards where you'll learn about Hawaiian coffee growth and production. Interwoven the coffee are rows of cacao trees. We'll then proceed to the "Slab" where the pods are 'cracked' before the fermentation process. Next we move into the greenhouse where flats of newly planted seedlings just beginning their journey grow alongside large screens filled with coffee and cacao beans slowly drying to perfection. Guests will be shown different varieties of candles that I make and be offered light snacks and drinks.
