I like to take young actors to this colorful, bare-bones Silver Lake spot where Kris Yenbamroong is making out-of-the-box Thai street food cool by giving it a fresh spin. He does it so well that Food & Wine named him Best New Chef. I love the Northern-style larb and the Bangkok Mall Pasta, basically spicy Thai-style spaghetti with salt and fish. It’s always crowded and it’s waitlist only, so get there early or be ready to have a couple rounds while you wait.

Thai street food. I’m half Thai and find this spot to be pretty authentic and fun and hip. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday. There’s a few items I’m not crazy about but overall, the street food is legit. Locals love it.

Don't use delivery service, call straight in to order- they're super nice and it'll save you a bunch of money on the prices & delivery. It's a quick drive, and they offer very decently poured & priced "little sips" of wine you can enjoy while you wait. Best thai food east of Thai Town. Sometimes a long wait but lunch is better. Lots of hipsters and east side cool folks.
