This is an emblematic place about last 70 years Cuba history. You also can find, The José Martí Memorial is a memorial to José Martí, a national hero of Cuba, located on the northern side of the Plaza de la Revolución in the Vedado area of Havana. It consists of a star-shaped tower, a statue of Martí surrounded by six columns, and gardens. It is the largest monument to a writer in the world. The 109 m tower, designed by a team of architects led by Raoul Otero de Galarraga, is in the form of a five-pointed star, encased in grey Cuban marble from the Isla de Pinos. The design was eventually selected from various entries put forward from a series of competitions beginning in 1939. Entries included a version of the tower topped with a statue of Martí, and a monument similar to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. with a statue of Martí seated within. The fourth competition held in 1943 resulted in the selection of a design by the architect Aquiles Maza and the sculptor Juan José Sicre.

Is one of the most characteristic postcards of the city. In the center of the square is the Jose Martí Memorial and around it are official buildings, whose facades are carved in steel the faces of Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos.

The Plaza de la Revolución (Revolution Square), formerly the Plaza Civica prior to the Revolution, is worth a brief stop due to its historical significance. During a 1998 visit to Cuba, Pope John Paul II celebrated mass in this famous square, and more than a million people have gathered here for Castro's speeches. Overlooking the square is the José Martí Memorial with a 109-meter gray tower and white marble statue of the Cuban national hero. You can browse the small museum here or take the lift up the tower for panoramic city views. Government buildings surround the square, including the Ministry of the Interior building adorned with the iconic image of Che Guevara. Address: Paseo y Calle 39

The Square of Revolution has many unique features and landmarks, including the magnificent Jose Marti Memorial. This incredible tower measures an astounding 109 meters, and from the top, visitors are treated to an absolutely breathtaking view of the city. In front of the tower is a sculpture of Marti, who is famed as a writer, poet, and hero of Cuba.
