After breakfast and antiquing in Liberty, head to the state park entrance at Lake St. George where you can rent a canoe or kayak by the hour or by the day. If you're just looking for a place to swim, go toward the Lake St. George Brewery and turn left (Marshall Shore Rd). Down the road a bit you'll come upon a small area for parking, and swimming access.

Lake St. George State Park is a public recreation area located on the northwest shore of Lake St. George in the town of Liberty, Waldo County, Maine. The state park covers 358 acres and offers camping, lifeguard-supervised swimming, picnicking, canoeing, motorized boating, and fishing.

This place has a special spot in my heart because the lake is so beautiful, so clean clear and cold. when my family first started coming to Maine when I was about 11, I was in Lake St George just about every day.
