The Tempe Normal School class of 1918 was responsible for installing the first letter on Tempe Butte. The school changed its name to Arizona State Teachers College, and in 1938, the letter "A" was installed on the butte.

Looking for a quick bout of cardio and a great view? "A" Mountain is the place to be. There is plenty of city street parking near by and hot spots to grab a bite/drink after your jaunt up the butte.
