Hands Down the Best Bagels in town. We go here for brunch usually. Their soups are really good too and we usually sit by the fire-pit outside.
For a lunch nook with yummy sandwiches and bagels, hit up Amangela's (Amanda + Angela = Amangela's). Located in the Village, Amangela's serves breakfast and lunch. They close at 5pm, so plan accordingly. Eat outside or take it to go. They also have vegetarian and GF options.
Great place to grab a sandwich. Get the turkey pesto on garlic/basil freshly baked bread.
Family-owned, counter-serve nook with breakfast & lunch, plus build-your-own sandwiches & salads. Gluten-free bread available for sandwiches. Currently take-out only.

“The Cougar Crest Trailhead is located on North Shore Drive, State Highway 38, approximately 0.6 of a mile west of the Big Bear Discovery Center and 2 miles west of the Stanfield Cutoff. You may also access the trail by parking at the Discovery Center to take the extension paved path that leads you to the trailhead. On the Cougar Crest Trail you will walk through a wide variety of natural environments. The first mile is a gentle uphill climb, but after a mile or so you will realize you are gaining altitude. The Cougar Crest Trail ends at the juncture of the world famous 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail. Bicycles are not permitted on the PCT.”

“he Castle Rock trailhead is located 1.1 miles east of the Big Bear Dam on State Highway 18 or 3 miles west of the Big Bear Lake Village. There is limited parking 50 yards east of the trailhead in a turnout on the north side of the highway. The Adventure Pass is not required on the turnout. There is a small sign marking the Castle Rock Trailhead across the highway. Although it's not a long hike, the elevation gain is 500 feet, making it a steep climb by any standards. From here its 0.5 of a mile of a steep trail then it levels out for another 0.5 of a mile of less steep trail. Castle Rock is a large 100 ft outcropping from immediately east of the saddle. This trail offers spectacular views of the lake and an opportunity to see pines, white fir trees and cedars.”
