Take an evening trip to see the milkway on a clear night, it’s about an hour away but so worth the view if you can make it at night.

Come and see shooting stars, meteor showers and view the milky way. Lookup the rules, flashlights are discouraged. They recommend red filtered flashlights or taking clear plastic wrap and coloring it red to put over your flashlight.

If you like stars, check out the Headlands. It is just south of the Mackinac bridge, not far from St. Ignace. They sometimes have programs. Check their website. They also have some trails for hiking, snowshoeing or cross country skiing.

The only park of its kind in Michigan where you can see the stars without ambient light. Presentations are offered at dusk. Weekends and holidays may be crowded.
