Just as the picturesque views draw visitors to the lakeside town of Hallstatt, the spectacular vista of the Dachstein Glacier rising behind the mountain lake makes this one of the top travel destinations in the Salzkammergut. The 'Gosausee' is actually two lakes, are larger ('Vorderer Gosausee') and a smaller one ('Hinterer Gosausee'). 'Vorderer Gosausee' A picturesque mountain lake situated between the impressive Dachstein Glacier and the mighty peaks of the Gosaukamm. Experience hiking, climbing, or diving here. 'Hinterer Gosausee' This small, idyllic mountain lake at the foot of the Dachstein is a worthy reward (especially in autumn) after an extensive hike. The hike lasts approximately 1.5 hours (one way). You can always enjoy a nice meal, sweets or a coffee at the restaurant situated directly at the entrance to the lake and relax with an amazing view on the lake and the glacier.
