Very nice park with easy access from the interstate. The paved trail at the base of the ruins has plenty of information about the ruins and the people who lived here. Be sure to drive to the associated well for a neat experience walking the rim of the well.

If your into history, don't miss Montezuma's Castle National Monument ...or Montezuma's Well (a separate site) which are fairly close to each other. Another option is Tuzigoot National Monument on the north side of Cottonwood, AZ (just southwest of Sedona, AZ).

“The Verde Valley is watered by snowmelt, summer monsoons, and springs that well up from the ancient sedimentary rocks. In the heart of the valley, a thousand years ago, people began to build a little hilltop pueblo that would grow into one of the largest villages in the area”

Point of Interest
“Montezuma Well is a sub-unit of Montezuma Castle. The land around Montezuma Well has been home to many prehistoric groups of people since as early as 11,000 CE. The first historical groups came to the Verde Valley after Arizona became a territory in 1863. Some accounts say Spanish settlers traveled through earlier, in the 1500s, but did not settle in the area. Managed by the Park Service, it is located about 15-20 minutes to the North. From Montezuma Castle National Monument, head toward I-17 and go North 1 1/2 miles to the next exit (Exit 293). Total trip between Montezuma Castle and Montezuma Well is 11 miles.”

Restauracja
“It all starts with the bread and the pizza made with Caputo Flour, a gluten free flour, imported from Italy. Crust made the traditional way, no twirling, every crust is hand kneaded into just the right consistency before it gets fresh toppings and baked in a wood burning stove the way it has been done in Naples, the birthplace of pizza, for over 300 years. Pizzeria Bocce is a feast for the senses with great food and drink, with the aroma of pizza cooking in the wood burning oven”

“V Bar V, an hour north via the I-17, features much of the best preserved petroglyph rock art of the SInagua people, if you are interested in archeology. Over 1,000 petroglyphs to see at this site, and an easy walk. ”
