'The world's only colony of nesting mute swans' Apparently there is no other place in the world where you can walk through a colony of nesting swans. The young cynets are a sight to behold.
If you are going to Abbotsbury Gardens then the Swannery is just a mile down the road.
Guests Phil and Sylvia say: "A day trip is one of the highlights of our stay." Paul's tip: In the heart of the beautiful Dorset countryside, just along the Jurassic Coast between West Bay and Weymouth.
Perfect paradise with the incredible beautiful swans. At certain times of the year, you can see the baby signets cracking open from the eggs on the footpath.

“A beautiful wander around these gardens is good for the soul. In summer the flowers and sculptures lift the spirits and in autumn and winter the lights are gorgeous. There is a cafe too”

“A great 6 mile round route is to follow the coastal path from West Bay to Golden Cap and back. Park at West Bay in the main car park, and walk around the harbour and head West. ”

“Portland is a very interesting place and you can do a circular walk of the Island from Anchor Cottage along Westcliffe to Portland Bill, then on to Church Ope Cove to East Weares and follow on to Portland Heights to overlook Chesil Beach. Then head for Tout Quarry and the top end of Westcliff to end your walk. You can also enjoy a walk at the bottom of Portland at Chiswell Cove and along Hamm which joins Portland to the main land. For keen bird watchers there is the Bird Observatory at Portland Bill and the Visitors Centre along the Portland Beach Road and The Fleet. ”
