If you want to available the hustle and bustle of the Ocean City Boardwalk, do what the locals do. Head to Assateague Island for a beach day. Keep an eye out for wild ponies!

This is the Maryland end of the Island. Ocean front beaches, a park office and parking. Ponies roam the beaches and are quite assertive so be careful! No restaurants on the island you will have to dine in West Ocean City.

Getting to Assateague Island to see ponies, wildlife and the beach: -You can drive (there is a fee). Ask about purchasing a DUCK STAMP when you get to the kiosk to pay your entry. This has been the better option for us in the past. Duck stamps are good from July to June so it may not be your better…
