Full Frontal Disco happens here on Saturdays and it’s a throwback event—they play disco music through and through. They usually have some sort of performance at some point during the evening set to music. It’s a mixed crowd, but a definitively gay event and just a great Eastside party. The rule of thumb in LA is that 20 percent of the people get really into it and dress for the theme—so some people come in disco gear and the rest come as they are.

Silver Lake's Akbar is technically a gay bar, but this is where cool people with good vibrations come to enjoy each others company regardless of sexuality. If the term "pansexual" applied to a bar, Akbar would be it. Fridays and Saturdays are the best nights here. There are two rooms, the front room has a juke box and long bar. The side room is where weekly and monthly parties take place, it has a DJ booth, dance floor, and its own bar. Parties in this room range from an electronic dance party called The Sharper Image; a hedonistic disco party called Full Frontal Disco; a queer performance art show called Planet Queer; a standup comedy night called Drunk on Stage, etc.
