The Tioga Pit is an old mine pit that filled with water once mining ceased. Because it's so deep and is fed by groundwater it's super clear and clean. It's fun for a dip, hanging out at the beach, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Tioga Recreation Area is northern Minnesota’s next premier outdoor adventure destination. Five hundred wooded acres located on two of the region’s most unique lakes features 30 miles of world-class, single-track mountain biking, snowshoe trails, beaches, and access to hundreds of miles of waterways. Tioga Pit is the best place around to take a refreshing dip! Not only can you lay in the sand or swim in the refreshing water, but there is also miles and miles of the best mountain biking trails in the region.

Man made mine pit with turquoise colored water. Pack a lunch and/or something to drink. Lay on the beach, swim, or relax on your floatie!
