Lake Placid is the little town in the Adirondack Mountains that has hosted two Winter Olympics...1932 and 1980. Remember the "Miracle on Ice" hockey game? Lake Placid, 1980. In the heart of the Adirondack Park, the largest state park in the continental US, Lake Placid is a prime destination in the summer. Folks come here to conquer some of the 46 High Peaks in the park, hike the innumerable forest trails, canoe and kayak, and to enjoy the peaceful nights and clear mountain air. Golf? We have it! Lake Placid Triathlon? Every July! Ice Skating at the Olympic Arena? Check! Summer Sinfonietta? Check! Movies in a 1926 classic theater? You Bet! Winter sports include skiing (both downhill and cross country), ice skating, sliding (training center for bobsled, luge, skeleton), and major league snowman building! Lake Placid is the little town that's got it all. Come and visit...you won't want to go home.

Lake Placid, previous home to the Winter Olympics and a hub for snow sports and outdoor recreation, is located approximately 15 minutes by car from Irving Lanes. The downtown area offers a plethora of eateries from little mom and pop shops to fine dining and hosts a variety of shopping opportunities. Lake Placid sits on the banks of Mirror Lake and provide fantastic views of the water and surrounding high peaks.

Lake Placid is a fun place to visit. Mirror Lake is beautiful and has a a nice boat tour with lots of historical and fun facts about the area. The tour sets off from the Mirror Lake Inn. There are gift shops, a great book store with nice art supply and children's sections, restaurants, the old fashioned Palace movie theater on Main Street, and the Lake Placid Olympic Museum. There is a hike and bike path around Mirror Lake. You can also rent a kayak or SUP there.
