Housed in a former flour mill on the south bank of the Tyne, the Baltic is free to visit (charge for some exhibitions) . There are great viewing platforms on levels 4 and 5 and a fantastic restaurant on level 6. The ground floor shop has a cool selection of books and gifts too.
Worth going for the views of the river from the viewing gallery, even if you don't like the art!
Fantastic building - an old flour mill - and great exhibition space over a number of floors. Free to enter. A good restaurant on the top floor plus cafe and (rather good) gift shop on ground floor. Spectacular views of the quayside and bridges from the viewing platform.
