Discovered this little gem taking some kids on a field trip. Was surprised at how much I enjoyed it! You can tour a locomotive (the engine) , dining car, caboose and more! The depot houses a museum of train memorabilia and a really large model train setup. Amazingly, there is no charge for admission!

302 W San Antonio St., New Braunfels,TX 78130 They have real train cars for you to explore, a steam powered locomotive, a caboose and a dining car. If you love old trains you will be in heaven here. 20 min car ride (7.9 miles)
