My personal favorite BBQ in Memphis. Right across the street from the National Civil Rights Museum at Lorraine Motel.
Another amazing place to try BBQ. The sandwiches are also excellent, but do try the ribs. Wet rub style.
This is one of the locals favorite BBQ restaurants. It has a sweeter sauce. Served wet or dry. Has a variety of menu items
The downtown location of this iconic Memphis barbecue joint is the perfect side dish to an afternoon at the National Civil Rights Museum. The transcendent pulled pork – almost always voted the city's best – can and should be doused in a number of sauces so good you'll want to drink them by the pint…
You're in Memphis--try some BBQ :) Central is known for great sausage plates! It is located right across the street from the Civil Rights Museum--finish lunch + hop on over!

“This South Main-area gastropub offers a sophisticated spin on pub food and an extensive list of inspired cocktails. But unlike some other high-end bars, S.O.B., as it's affectionately called, has more of a welcoming, low-key ambience. Sangria (prepared with whatever fruit is in season) is always on offer, or try something more inventive, such as the Not Your Grandmother's Lemonade (barrel-aged whiskey with homemade lavender-infused lemonade). Balance your booze intake with eats from the daily snack board (fried deviled eggs, seasonal hummus, cheeses, house jam, candied pecans, and crispy flatbread).”

“The Blue Monkey quickly earned a reputation as one of Memphis’ most popular and legendary hangouts. Located at South Front Street Downtown, The Blue Monkey features the mid-south’s finest European style tavern atmosphere combined with classic American cuisine. Enjoy The Blue Monkey for lunch, dinner, happy hour and late nite. Come and experience the best of Memphis – The Blue Monkey.”

“If you’re going to Beale, usually the cheapest parking is just above Flying Saucer for usually $1/hour unless there’s a special event. If you’re really looking for a night on Beale, this is a spot to start with a ton of beer and food and just a street over from the start of Beale.”

“Go to Earnestine and Hazel’s for the real soul food experience and stay for the jukebox operated by ghosts. That’s right, in downtown Memphis Earnestine and Hazel’s is a dive bar on the grounds of an old haunted brothel. It’s home to several locally famous ghouls and the equally well-known ‘soul burger’, which costs just $6 and has gained national notoriety for its mouthwatering ‘soul sauce’.”

“When you go to the Arcade for breakfast, try to get a seat at the Elvis booth towards the back of the restaurant (it was apparently his favourite). Even if you can't get the coveted seat, you can still gorge yourself on the restaurant's fantastic sweet potato pancakes and other classic southern breakfast treats. The Arcade is one of the oldest restaurants in Memphis and the classic retro decor hasn't changed in years.”
