Our absolute favorite destination is “our lake” approx. 15min drive from Aups. Like a turquoise blue gem, it lies there, glittering in dazzling sunlight - surrounded by Europe's largest canyon on one side and on the other side the low plateau with all fragrant lavender fields. The lake is approx. 1 mile long and is a dam of the River Verdon. Under the lake lies the old village of Les Salles, which unfortunately had to go into the tomb for the lake to be created.

A great beautiful turquoise lake at the entrance to the Gorge de Verdon, place to sunbath by the lake, pedalo, up the gorge and generally relax. Great day out.

This large reservoir is a good place for boating, picnics and bathing. The river Verdon with its impressive gorges runs into the northern end.

This is a 12km fresh water lake, very clear. It has little beaches dotted all around and picnic tables. You can swim, kayak, sail, windsurf or hire electric boats or pedalos. There are no motorised sports so it is quiet and safe.
