The collection of Greek clothing "Victoria G. Karelia" was created by the founding member and for many years the President of the Lyceum of Greek Girls of Kalamata, V. Karelia, initially as a personal collection. The collection includes complete clothing sets, women's and men's, from all regions of Greece, gold-embroidered linings, excellent examples of the art of terzides, as well as jewelry, which does not just cover the needs of complementing and adorning clothing but are an independent and important piece of the collection. The Exhibition Hall of Greek Traditional Costumes (64 Stadiou St) houses the Victoria G. Karelias Collection, one of the finest examples of its kind in Europe. It was inaugurated last October in the beautifully restored 19th century building bestowed by the Municipality of Kalamata to the Lyceum of Hellenic Women of Kalamata and showcases traditional costumes from around the country.
