At 3,491 feet, Mount Greylock is the highest point in Massachusetts. Rising above the surrounding Berkshire landscape, dramatic views of 60-90 miles distant may be seen. It became Massachusetts' first wilderness state park, acquired by the Commonwealth in 1898, to preserve its natural environment…

Great hiking and views from the top; drive up if you're unable to hike.

Tallest Mtn in Massachusetts. Fabulous views, hiking, skiing, lodge with rustic bunk rooms, even a great restaurant on top. You can drive up in season.

“We live at the base of October Mountain State Forest. Follow our road to the left, and you'll wind up at the campground. In the summer, there's camping and hiking. In the winter, there's snowshoeing and cross country skiing. There are trail maps at the service building. ”

Natural Feature
“This is a dramatic rock canyon featuring 70-foot high walls carved by centuries of rushing water from the Westfield River. Hike the half-mile trail along the cliff tops and experience breathtaking views of the gorge, the river, and the surrounding forest. For day hikers and mountain bikers, there is a 7-mile trail which leads to the broad basin above the Knightville Dam.”
