Cape Vidal is part of the Isimangiliso Wetland park which is a famous World Heritage Site. Take a scenic drive through the nature reserve while spotting leopard, rhino, buck, zebra and giraffe. Cool down and enjoy a swim in the crystal clear water at Cape Vidal beach. Great for snorkeling. You can also pack a picnic basket or even have a braai at the designated spots. Beware of the monkeys.

About 35 km from St Lucia. Road runs through a game reserve with excellent hides where you can watch wildlife, aquatic birds, and crocodiles. There are picnic spots and clean ablutions. The road ends up at a lovely beach with bay. Wildlife, snorkeling, walks on the beach, fishing, bird watching.

The lure of Cape Vidal lies in its unique appeal as a genuine beach-and-bush destination that's a little off the beaten track. Inland lies the prolific wildlife of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, while the coastline offers the marine delights of the Indian Ocean.

This KwaZulu-Natal nature reserve offers sheltered beaches, rock pools and ledges surrounded by the wetlands and coastal forest of iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Cape Vidal is wonderful for observing marine life at low tide while snorkelling. The bay has a launch site for deep-sea fishing excursions (including spearfishing) and ski boats. Snorkelers can keep a look out for the remains of the ship called Dorothea which was lost in these waters in 1898 - the wreck has never been found. The winter months are when you can see Humpback Whales in the sea, as they migrate up the East coast of South Africa on their way to Mozambique to give birth, and in summer Leatherback and Loggerhead sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs.
