Big Bear Lake plays peek-a-boo while hiking this trail. Bring water and go early before it gets hot as the trail faces south and gets a good amount of sun even though your hiking through trees.

Dog friendly (must be on a leash) trail about 5 miles out and back, great views of Big Bear Lake and mountains. Moderate level difficulty so good for beginners and up. Paved parking lot with tables and benches so it's also good to picnic but get there early for that.

Cougar Crest is a moderate out and back hike. I love it because the views of the mountains are amazing!

“This is a great hike and has some terrific views at the top. The last 20-30 feet requires some scrambling with some ropes to help pull yourself up by. If you are willing to do that last bit, the views are WELL worth it. If the last bit scares you, it still has some incredible views”
