For lunch and dinner of a more traditional nature in Ponte de Lima we would recommend: Acude, Taverna Vaca das Cordas, Casa da Terra, O Mercado, A Tulha, Taberna Afonso, Sabores do Lima, Petiscas, O Brasão, A Carvalheira, O Confrade, Encanada e Muralha; For lighter or alternative options you have the Portuguese style tavernas that serve tapas style dishes such as: Escondidinho, Favas Contadas Mercearia da Vila, Pica Pau, Taberna 27, Yhe Old chain Tavern, Taberna da Porta Vermelha, Tasca O Gasparzinho, Telhadinhos e Tasca das Fodinhas.

A vila mais antiga de Portugal! The oldest village in Portugal!

October 4, 2021
Ponte de Lima already had the opportunity to be promoted to the city, but refused. I wanted to remain the oldest village in Portugal, a rustic, historic piece of Minho where nature still seems intact. It is no coincidence that it is known as the capital of gardens: not only because of the International Garden Festival, but also for other seraphic green spaces, such as the sculptural Arnado Theme Park, which seems a world apart, with the Roman Garden , the Jardim Labirinto, the Jardim Renascença, the Jardim Baroco and the botanical garden. Another special place is the Lagoas de Bertiandos and São Pedro de Arcos, a protected landscape north of the River Lima with 350 hectares, rare plant species and several animals. As for accommodation, Carmo’s Boutique Hotel and Mercearia da Vila (former grocery store transformed into an inn, restaurant and typical grocery store) are two good possibilities. In food and drink, go for confidence: in Ponte de Lima there are no gourmet inventions; wherever you go you can eat well, cheaply and in large quantities, from sarrabulho to octopus to lagareiro. Moreover, from the 8th to the 11th of September there are Feiras Novas, famous popular festivals in Ponte de Lima that attract many people from Porto.
