Discover a true Mayan Arqueological site 5 minutes away by car. Tazumal is considered the most important and best preserved in El Salvador. The artifacts found at Tazumal provide evidence of ancient and active trade between Tazumal and places as far away as Panama and Mexico. You will see: Pre-Columbian archaeological site of remains of a Mayan city & a museum exhibiting local artifacts. Entrance cost: $1-$3 Local shops around the site sell mayan decoration replicas, souvenirs and more. Food like famous salvadorean yuca is available as yuca salcochada or yuca frita served on a plantain plant leaf. Pupusas and other local food is available as street food. Good for solo travelers or a group.
