This place has a folk tale of its own! This is the legend: a man, Cantuna, made a pact with the Devil to finish the building atriums. The deal included the Devil taking his soul upon the completion of the building. When the bells sounded signaling it was time for the devil to get his payment. Cantuña realize there was a brick missing! Meaning the building was not finished and the devil was not to be payed. This church is considered a jewel of continental architecture. Enjoy and find the missing brick!

San Francisco, is a 16th-century Roman Catholic complex in Quito. Its construction start soon after the founding of the city in 1534 by a Franciscan missionary, a Flemish Friar, Jodoco Ricke. The facade of the main Church reflects, for the first time in South America, Mannerism elements, which later became a reference point for that style in the rest of the continent. In the interior in an exotic golden splendor the Mudejar and Barroque style lavishly decorated altarpieces, and columns fashioned in different styles. San Francisco houses famous works of Quito School of Art. The most celebrated is 18th century sculpture Virgen of Quito by Legarda. -Wikipedia- Free to visit
