It was a traditional place where worked fisherman who made the elaboratión of the TUNA. The TUNA know a fish which run how a aircraft (plane). The Chanca is undoubtedly one of the most emblematic monuments of Conil de la Frontera. It was built in the mid-16th century. In its wide surface tuna fish was produced and preserved, it was also used to store fishing gear, boats and equipment in times when the almadraba (tuna fish trap) was not operational. This walled compound has been key to the development of the city. It is noteworthy that along with that of Zahara de los Atunes, it was for centuries considered one of the great historical alambrabas of the province.
