Surrounding the main building of this Confucian temple built near the end of the 17th century, all sorts of trees are planted like you’d find at the Temple of Confucius in Shandong Province, China. They include Chinese apricot and persimmon, whose branches look like calligraphy. It’s especially picturesque in autumn. You should slowly take in the whole complex. It’s an imitation of the original in China and a sacred place for Confucianism in Japan.

神田明神では大黒様・恵比寿様・将門様の三柱の神様が祭られていて、本郷通りを挟んで向かいの湯島聖堂は孔子が祭られています。 毎年五月には江戸三大祭りの一つである神田祭が開催され、山車や神輿行列が丸の内から秋葉原駅前を通って渡御を行います。
