Tucked away in the heart of metropolitan Memphis, Lichterman Nature Center brings nature to life with exciting exhibits, native wildflowers and trees, and a tradition of excellence in environmental education set in the midst of 65 acres of lake, meadow, and forest. Home to a wide variety of plants, birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals, Lichterman is an urban wildlife oasis. Lichterman features nearly three miles of hiking trails, the Davidson Pavilion, Visitor Center with exhibits, a Backyard Wildlife Center teaming with snakes, turtles and other creatures. The Center also is home to a greenhouse/nursery where plants are grown for an annual plant sale in spring. 15 minutes away

The Lichterman is a peaceful place to stroll and learn more about flora and fauna of The Midsouth. Take the Buckman Water Science Trail or spend time in the beautiful Backyard Wildlife Center. Love birding? This is a premier place to spot 120 species throughout the year. Binoculars and field guides are provided at no charge. Worth a short drive to southeast Memphis for an all-natural getaway.

Lichterman Nature Center, a certified arboretum and nature center. It has many outdoor and indoor animal exhibits, activities and events. We love to see all the Canadian geese that nest around the lake every year. Please be respectful of their nest and do not disturb them.
