Shopping

Valencia is a seriously good shopping city, particularly for shoes, bags, embroidered silk shawls and ceramics. Shops are open from around 9.30am to 8.30pm, but many smaller ones close between 2pm and 5pm. Go to Nela (Calle San Vicente Mártir 2) for exquisite embroidered silk shawls and Abanicos Carbonell (Calle Castellón 21) for beautiful handmade fans. Browse the haberdashery stalls in the circular Plaza Redonda, hidden away in the old town, where there is a small flea market on Sundays. Calle Colón and trawl Calle Sorní and Calle Cirilo Amorós for more upmarket boutiques. The restored art nouveau Colón Market (mercadocolon.es) on Calle Jorge Juan is now full of cafés and is a good plac

Drinks & Nightlife

Cafe El Negrito is one of the Carmen's most popular hangouts and, during summer months, the crowd regularly spill out on to the square of the same name. The crowd is young, the atmosphere is lively, and the drinks flow until early in the morning. Everything you want, really.

Food Scene

There are many places to eat in Cento Comercial El Saler just next to the apartment, it depends on what you like. We like Jamaica Coffe Shop for coffee and cake. La Tagliatella is great for pasta and pizza. Foster's Hollywood is good for American food like hamburgers and ribs. You can take a bus ride (no 13, outside the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia ) to the Plaza de l'Ajuntament for more cafes and restaurants.
