Right along Lake Michigan, this place is beautiful. All the Colectivo's are repurposed old buildings but this one is special. Outdoor seating too.

The Milwaukee Public Market is a paradise. Fresh foods from specialty shops. This market is the closest you can get to a more European food experience. You buy fresh from the stalls that specialize in what you're looking for - cheese, fish, wine, bread, chocolates, coffee, etc.

The Milwaukee Public Market is a paradise. Fresh foods from specialty shops. This market is the closest you can get to a more European food experience. You buy fresh from the stalls that specialize in what you're looking for - cheese, fish, wine, bread, chocolates, coffee, etc.
Tasty food with no guilt. Beans & Barley's food is made with fresh, chemical-free ingredients and it's sooooo goooood. The shop attached is a delight to peruse while you wait for your table.

If you're looking for a treat in a grocery store, go here. Cheese, bakery, deli, plus full grocery. If I'm packing a special occasion picnic, this is where I go. Bit more expensive than Pick'n Save.

The Glorioso brothers founded their tiny Italian market and deli a long, long time ago. Since then, it's grown into it's current space and offers a huge variety of cheeses, meats, wine, pastas, gelato... everything you need for a special meal. They also have a first rate deli counter for fresh sandwiches, and whatnot.

Arts & Culture
The architecture alone makes this a 'must-see'. The galleries include some beautiful pieces. I especially love the modern art wings.
Bonus: The museum is on Lake Michigan with gorgeous views of Lake Shore Drive.

Harley-Davidson was born in Milwaukee and is one of the many things that make this city great. They've done a brilliant job designing this museum.

For natural history, the Milwaukee Public Museum is great. Their focus is on cultures ranging from prehistoric to 19th century Milwaukee history. They also have a good section devoted to Native American culture. Their recreated streets of old Milwaukee are a blast to the past and have recently been updated.

They also have a good menu of simple fare every night of the week but their Friday Fish Fry is an experience in itself. You sit at communal tables and listen to the polka band.

The Riverwalk is an excellent way to see downtown Milwaukee. It's a lovely, paved walk along the Milwaukee river where you will often see people in kayaks, private boats and tourist boats. In the Third Ward neighborhood, you'll also find a truly kitschy Milwaukee sight - The Bronze Fonz. Access to the Riverwalk is about a 5 minute walk from our house.

Milwaukee is becoming more and more a bike-friendly. Bublr Bikes are popping up all over and you can't miss them with their fun blue. A bike is a great option for sightseeing.
