Boyce Thompson Arboretum is the largest and oldest botanical garden in the state of Arizona. It is one of the oldest botanical institutions west of the Mississippi. Founded in 1924 as a desert plant research facility and “living museum”. It is beautiful and well worth a visit (and the location of our wedding!). There a couple of hiking trails around the park. It is located about 30 mins east of us.

A beautiful lake to spend a lazy day, swimming, boating or kayaking. This lake takes about an hour to get to and about half of that is on an unpaved road. Because of this, this lake tends to be less busy than Canyon Lake. If you have the time, it is worth the drive, you won't be disappointed.

This is a great craft beer pub in town. It is our favorite local place to eat. It gets great reviews from our guests who have eaten here. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. They serve burgers, ribs, steaks etc. There is great ambiance and nicely decorated. Staff and owners are very friendly.
