The organic foodie destination of the Cotswolds in recent years. People flock to the tiny village of Kingham to shop for organic produce, amazing cheese and sumptuous homewares before getting a table for lunch inside or outside. The food is amazing - wide range of organic salads, great for vegans but also a full menu for meat-eaters.

Arts & Culture

18th century home to the Lords Faringdon. This is an unusual property for the National Trust as it is still the Faringdon home and they run the house for the NT. This gives the place a distinctive atmosphere with an impressive collection of art including some beautiful panels by the Pre-Raphaelites. Beautiful gardens with long borders and park walks with great vistas. Quirky opening hours but worth the visit.

Something of an English eccentricity, the Lodge was built in the 17th century as a grandstand for the guests of John 'Crump' Dutton to watch the various sporting events in the park. Lovely countryside for walks and picnics.

Amazing National Trust site. The mosaics of the huge roman villa found on the site are well worth a visit. Take the guided tour with one of the volunteers to learn more about how the Romans lived. The baths are particularly impressive. Lovely spot for a picnic or a bite to eat at the cafe. Also a great 1 hour walk through the woods and fields from the NT shop - just ask them for a map.

Sightseeing

Cirencester's history stretches back to Roman times when it was the 2nd largest settlement in Britain. The town has retained its charm with a busy marketplace, dominated by the parish church of St John the Baptist, parts of which date back to the 15th century. There are plenty of independent shops and cafes, a Friday outdoor market and a daily indoor market of antiques, crafts and collectibles in the Corn Hall. Visit the Corinium Museum to learn about the town's history and see artefacts.

One of the most visited villages of the Cotswolds due to its picture-postcard 17th weavers cottages and water meadow. Despite the Japanese coach tours, its a special spot to visit. Sit by the river or visit the Trout Farm and catch yourself a fish. Good place to park up and go for a walk before lunch at the Swan hotel.
