this is my absolute favorite coffeeplace in the whole city although it takes a while to get there. Both outdoor seating (very quiet, secluded from the street and right at the river) and indoor (industrial, spacious). There is always a free spot. They also have a small kitchen that is surprisingly good. The Hörnli mit Ghacktem is a Swiss Speciality and I don’t think you can get it any better and more affordable than there. They also have a little bookshop and a large variety of newspaper for you to read. I could spend hours there !

best to visit with good weather as it’s mostly an outdoor café. Tucked away from direct sight, this central
coffeeshop feels like a small oasis. They also serve nice appetizers like hummus and falafel and simple drinks for a fair price.

Usually Swiss restaurants are a little old, or not very inviting but this little venue is thoughtfully decorated, the menu small but excellent. This is definitely not an overly fancy venue, but instead feels a little like your mum’s extended kitchen.

This is were you might bump into celebrities, artists, politicians or even designer on their visit to Switzerland. This worldfamous institution isn’t particularly trendy but their Swiss food is incredible and their service impeccable.

absolutely gorgeous café with beautiful outdoor seating right at the Limmat and direct sun exposure. Solid coffee, small food selection and drinks - can get crowded on weekends but given the spaciousness, the wait is never all too long.

if you want to go to our local “house-mountain” as we call it, you just need to take a specific train from the Hauptbauhnof and I recommend getting off two, three stops before the tip and walk up the rest! You will be rewarded with a breath-taking view over Zurich, the Alps and surrounding areas. The culinary offer isn’t the best, but for a hot chocolate or a bratwurst the restaurants are quite alright
