Boulder View is another great lakeside restaurant with a huge patio and outdoor bar. This one overlooks Boulder View Lake, a slightly quieter lake as they don’t allow any power boats. Similar to Nicks, they also have lots of live music and fun events.

Piggy’s is the go-to breakfast spot in Lake Harmony, which also means weekends can bring a huge crowd. Breakfast is served all day 7am - 3pm on the weekends and 8am to 3pm during the week. Piggy’s also offers a lunch menu with lots of hot and cold sandwiches and does takeout as well. Right next door is Piggy’s Hog Heaven, an ice cream shack with lots of different options.

Murphy’s Loft is a cool log cabin in the cooler months with a huge patio, outdoor bar and pool in the back in warmer months. All paying customers are welcome to use the pool. Their menu is extensive and has something for everyone, they also have a kids menu.

We love day trips to Jim Thorpe to ride bikes on the scenic bike train, check out one of the many festivals they have in town or just walk around the quaint town with a ton of history. Our favorite restaurant here is the Stone Row Pub. Led by a husband and wife team, they offer really yummy, fresh food for omnivores to vegans to gluten free folks. They also have a great drink menu and are located in a cozy old row home. The menu changes seasonally so be sure to check their website for the most up-to-date menu. Note: Stone Row is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Just down the street from the Stone Row is Moya, another great option for dining in Jim Thorpe. Moya is a slightly different vibe from Stone Row and a bit more upscale but the food is great! The restaurant highly recommends making reservations beforehand and is closed on Wednesdays.

If you do decide to hit the outlets or make your way to Mt Pocono area, we recommend Pocono Brewery Co for yummy beers and a great Italian menu. They have a huge wood fire oven on the premises to make pizzas and bread. The service when we went here was excellent!

This is a great little Italian BYOB. It's very limited in size, so reservations are highly recommended. They also have a fridge of takeaway items that you can bake at home, which is a great option if you don't feel like cooking.

We haven’t had a chance to try out the food at Shenanigans but this is definitely a great bar to go to if you’re looking for a fun night out. Shenanigans has lots of live music and every Friday and Saturday night there is karaoke at the front bar and dancing in the back at Boomers Lounge!

Parks & Nature
Hickory Run State Park has tons to see from the boulder field to the lake nearby with a day beach. If you're into hiking, one of our favorite hikes in the area is on the shades of death trail. There is beautiful vegetation and lots of cool things to see.

A little further out is the Seven Tubs nature area, this is a great spot for swimming and hiking.

Hawk Falls is a waterfall very close by, the hike in is on the easier side and you can get to the falls very quickly. Great for families and children although it can get pretty crowded at times.

Devil's Hole is a cool hike right outside of Cresco, PA. the hike is fairly easy and flat but you'll need to cross rivers so wear shoes you won't mind getting wet. The trail brings you into really cool ruins of what is rumored to be an old speakeasy or skiing lodge. Legend has it, there was a bottomless lake at this location -- anyone that swam in it sank to hell! There are remnants of a large double fireplace and other parts of the old stone structure.

We enjoy having drinks on the porch of the Harry Packer Mansion Inn, with its great views of downtown Jim Thorpe and the train station. You can opt to do a self-guided tour beforehand or just head to the lounge. They also do murder mystery weekends that look like fun but we haven’t participated.

The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway is a fun old-timey train that will take you up through the mountains. In the warmer months, they do a scenic bike train where you can load your bikes onto the train and they'll drop you at the top of the mountain and you can ride your bikes down. You can bring your own bike or rent one from the company at the beginning of the trail. It's mostly downhill and flat so it's a great ride for the whole family. Be sure to pack a lunch and plenty of snacks!
