This is where you can see Florida Government up close and personal. There are awesome views from the observation lounge on the 22nd floor. You can climb the stairs or take an elevator. It's all free, as is the security scan you go through in order to enter this building.

This is a beautiful park with a cold swimming area, river tour boats, and an historic lodge/restaurant. It's a reasonable bike ride from the apartment for a person in good shape.

One of the more beautiful beaches in the area. While you can get there by bicycle, it's probably more reasonable to go by car. There is a state park with a campground at the east end of the island.

Just outside the back gate of the apartment complex, Lake Elberta Park provides a nice place to walk or run.

This is a little beach park at the end of a long sand road. It was the site of an old tourist lodge, the ruins of which can be explored. There is not much of a beach here, but it is a great place to launch a canoe. This place is NOT accessible by bike (remember that long sand road?)

Fancy beers, decent wines, and bar food served by nice people. This bar is a few blocks away from the student scene on Gaines Street, and attracts an older crowd of graduate students, working people, and state workers. They occasionally have live music.

These folks make a decent pie. It's not like what you get in Italy, but it's tasty and the quality is consistently good. My favorite is the Figure Four.
